Preschool/Childcare Programs

Dubuque Community Y Childcare Preschool Programs are licensed programs that have achieved Quality Preschool Program Standards. Both programs offer developmentally appropriate activities to enrich the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children. Embedded in our curriculum that promotes hand-on-learning experiences, and focuses on kindergarten readiness, the Y offers opportunities for swimming, gym activities, and field trips. Hot lunch and AM/PM snacks are offered daily;' in addition, Finley/DCY offers a light supper. These year round programs accept full and part time enrollments.

The Dubuque Community Y Childcare Programs in collaboration with the Dubuque Community Schoools is introducing VOLUNTARY 4-YEAR OLD PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS. This program will allow for ten (10) hours per week FREE preschool for all children who are 4 years old by September 15, 2008 and an Iowa resident. Three (3) sites will be available. Finley/DCY Childcare Center, 300 N. Grandview, program hours are Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-7:30 PM, year round.

Y Creative Childcare Center, 35 N. Booth Street, program hours are Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-6:00 PM, year round.

Kids of the Kingdom Childcare Center, 2899 Hales Mill Road, program hours are Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM-6:00 PM, year round.

School Age Childcare SACC

The DCY sponsors Before/After Care at three Western Dubuque Schools: Drexler, Epworth, and Peosta Elementary Schools; at the following Dubuque Community Schools: Bryant, Carver, Eisenhower, Hoover, Irving, Kennedy, Lincoln, Sageville, and Table Mound; and at East Dubuque Elementary. SACC programs provide care at the schools from 6:30 AM until school starts, and from school dismissal until 6:00 PM On early dismissal and late start days, SACC extends their hours at the school sites. SACC is held at the DCY Center on weather related and scheduled No School days. SACC programs are designed for school age children, 5 to 12 years of age. Full and part time enrollments are accepted.

Babysitting Service

(Hours effective Sept 4, 2007)
Babysitting service is available free of charge for children who are one to seven whose parent is participating in a program at the Dubuque Community Y. Program hours are Monday-Saturday mornings 8-11:00 AM and Monday-Thursday evenings 3:30-8:00 PM.

Game Room Supervision

(Hours effective Sept 4, 2007)
The game room has planned activities and supervised care from 4:00-8:00 PM Monday-Thursday for children 8-11.
